CEE 363B: Chaos and Turbulence

Postgraduate course

Project description

An overview of the statistical analysis of unsteady flows, with a focus on chaos and turbulence. Topics will include random variables and statistical analysis; self-similarity, scaling, and symmetries; the turbulent energy cascade and the Kolmogorov similarity hypotheses; intermittency, refined similarity, and multifractal analysis; mixing and transport in chaotic and turbulent flows; and an overview of the effects of additional conservation laws on flow statistics.
