CEE 83: Seismic Design Workshop
Postgraduate courseProject description
Introduction to seismic design for undergraduate students. Structural design concepts are introduced based on physical and mathematical principles. General overview of mechanics of materials, structural analysis, structural systems and earthquake resistant design. The class is intended to prepare students for the EERI 2018 Seismic Design Competition, where students design, analyze and fabricate a five-feet tall balsa wood structure. Hands on workshops focus on numerical simulation using commercial software and experimental testing. All majors are welcome.
