A study of the dual role of law in addressing and maintaining gender inequality, feminist thought on the gendered nature of law, and specific legal issues relevant to the status and interests of women in society.

By the end of this course, students will be able to: Acquire a solid understanding of the main theoretical movements within feminist legal jurisprudence. (Capability 2.2, 4.1 and 6.2) Develop the ability to analyse, synthesise, evaluate and apply theoretical insights to specific areas of doctrinal law in order to offer cogent feminist analysis from an interdisciplinary perspective (Capability 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.3 and 6.2) Develop and demonstrate research and writing skills (Capability 1.2, 2.1, 2.3, 3.2, 3.3 and 4.1)
