ENVENG 342 : Environmental Engineering Design

Undergraduate course

Project description

The purpose of this course is to build on the fundamental concepts of environmental engineering covered in the second and third-year courses. The course involves the design of conventional and advanced treatment processes and pollution control devices for drinking water and wastewater reuse, contaminated site investigation, and remediation and risk assessment technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater.

Project outcome

By the end of this course, students will be able to: Create appropriate treatment schemes to remove certain pollutants present in water or wastewater. (Capability 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2 and 4.1) Understand selected contemporary global water and wastewater issues such as water shortage, wastewater reuse, and emerging contaminants. (Capability 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.3, 5.2 and 6.2) Develop fundamental knowledge and skills required for the assessment of contaminated soil and groundwater, risk assessment and the application and design of remediation technologies. (Capability 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 5.2 and 6.1)
