HEALTHED 202 : Sexuality, Education and Society

Project description

Examines the role of sexuality and sexuality education in society. Investigates cultural, historical and contemporary perspectives on gender and sexuality in diverse settings, including education and human services. Explores values, beliefs and issues of equity and sexual social justice. Develops sexuality pedagogies and advocacy for education settings and within communities.

Project outcome

By the end of this course, students will be able to: Discuss global and local cultural and social issues and trends in gender sexuality (Capability 2.1, 2.3, 3.1 and 6.2) Explain theories of gender and sexuality in relation to diverse contexts including education, sport, health and physical activity environments. (Capability 1.2, 2.1, 2.3 and 6.2) Explore theories of gender and sexuality in relation to diverse contexts including education, sport, health and physical activity environments. (Capability 1.2, 2.2, 2.3, 5.2, 6.1 and 6.2) Explain how educational and other institutions can respond to sexuality. (Capability 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 4.1, 5.2, 6.1 and 6.2)
